26 and 28 April - Airship modeling, Critique update and Randy Haycock

26 and 28 April - Airship modeling, Critique update and Randy Haycock Talked to Chris Popham and Ruby Meades about voice acting for my project. Chris said he would willing to give it a go and Ruby offered to be a back up if I couldn't find anyone else for the main role (Julia Clark). Thinking that Chris might be a good pick for Dean or Dennis, don't really see him as Lutwe. Could also be Passenger X (Passenger that Dennis throws out the window) but anyone could forfill that role. Need to update my critique with work I have done and change the research question. https://randyhaycock.tumblr.com/ https://www.artstation.com/mccabe86/albums/63796

14 April - Airship design and modeling Dean for tests

14 April - Airship design and modeling Dean for tests Combining elements for the other two Airship designs, taking the best components from both. While they both have their merits I think my best course of action is to mix the designs. By themselves, the designs just aren't that interesting. Design number one is a more traditional steampunk zeppelin design The idea behind design number two was simply, "What happening when I stick a cruise ship on a hot air balloon and give it wings?" Final Design - A mix of the other two designs. Tried to create complexity while retaining some believe-ability. Kept story requirements in mind while concepting.  Character design challenge Rachel suggested I sign up to Character Design challenge, a facebook group that does monthly art challenges. https://www.facebook.com/groups/CharacterDesignChallenge/about/ https://characterdesignreferences.com/challenge-rules Dean Modeling Have started putting a basic Dean m...

12 April - Return post and thoughts

12 April - Return post and thoughts I have gotten back to the project after working on other assignments for a while.  Talked to Rachel about wallpaper. She seems to think it could be a good idea. I need to look around the local stores for cheap throw wallpaper.

April 6 - Ethic and copyright

Image
April 6 - Ethic and copyright Do I need to change Julia's name? I was browsing the Hullabaloo website and I realized that one of the secondary characters is called  "JULIETTE "JULES" FLETCHER", which is a bit too close to Julia Clark. I will talk to Rachel about this as I think this could be a point of ethical concern. Changing Julia's first name wouldn't be that much of an issue as it is not set in stone. Juliette "Jules" Fletcher from James Lopez's "Hullabaloo"

April 5 - Bios and world building

April 5 - Bios and world building I decided it about time I did a bit of world building to flesh out the holes in my story. For starter I came up with some names for the city Julia is traveling to. The finally name was... City name - Aernan - goodness virtue good-will beneficence kindliness good thing. ærnan. I will continue to flesh out the world Julia, Dean and Dennis occupy as it will help fill out any plot holes I might have missed, could encourage changes that will improve the story and lead to more promotional material ideas. One idea I have already had was making a map for the next exhibiton. Might be worth talking to Glenn Ferdic about he makes map for DnD Julia's Bio done. Will show it to Rachel on Friday. Wallpaper for next exhibition? I had a thought that is might be interesting to put up a temporary wallpaper for my next exhibition. The main purpose of this would be to add more character to my display, hopeful drawing more people in.

April 2 - Ethics thoughts

April 2 - Ethics thoughts I didn't get much work done in the way of my personal project as I was working on the script for the group project for most of the day. I did however do some work on my technique proposal for BSA 306. Some of the research I have been doing for this paper has raise a few ethics questions about my work. The main problem is in relation to my use of James Lopez's upcoming "Hullabaloo". The film was suggested to me because it is a steampunk animation that use traditional 2D animation mixed with 3D models. My main concern is that I might not be doing enough to differentiate my work from Hullabaloo, and I don't want to be a copycat. One of the ways I plan to do this is by using a different process for 2D animation. For starters Hullabaloo is traditional pencil to paper animation, which I'll be working completely digital. Also my first pick for style is based of of Klaus, an upcoming animation from SPA studios, which uses the node system...
